Two different things

Some material here is published by Golden Era DnB, meaning we chose it and we stand behind it. Other material is hosted for contributors, meaning someone else uploaded it and told us they had the right to. Those are different positions and the archive keeps them apart deliberately, in the data as well as on the page.

Published by us

  • Artwork supplied or licensed by the rights holder
  • Photographs taken by Golden Era DnB of items it owns
  • Commissioned or illustrative imagery, always labelled as illustration

We are responsible for this material.

Hosted for contributors

  • Sleeve and centre-label scans uploaded by people who own the record
  • Flyers, tickets, photographs and other artefacts from personal collections
  • Written memories and corrections attached to events

Shown with the contributor named, and removed on valid notice.

02

What contributors agree

Anyone uploading to the archive confirms, at the point of upload, that one of the following is true: they created the material, they hold the rights to it, they photographed an item they own, or it is out of copyright. Uploads that make no such claim are not published.

Contributors keep their rights. Uploading grants Golden Era DnB permission to display the material in the archive with credit, and nothing more. It does not permit use on merchandise, prints or any other product, and never will without asking separately.

03

If something here is yours

Write to us and it comes down. You do not have to explain yourself, prove ownership to a standard, or make a formal legal request first. Tell us which item and we will remove it while we look into it.

If you would rather it stayed and were credited properly, say so. That is usually the better outcome for everyone and we would rather have your name on it than lose the record of it.

Contributors who repeatedly upload material they do not have the right to upload lose the ability to contribute.

04

What we will not do

  • Scrape artwork

Aggregators hold images under their own arrangements and cannot pass those rights on. We do not take from them.

  • Invent provenance

Where the archive does not know who made or owns something, it says so rather than guessing.

  • Sell your work

Nothing contributed or cleared for the archive goes onto a product without a separate conversation.
